Maybe a scheme could be set up where a Government department buys houses that need renovating.
Then they can use Trainees, Apprentices, The Self Employed etc.. to refurbish them. Paying them a wage for what they are doing.
This could provide Training and Jobs for builders/plumbers/electricians then the houses could be sold to first time buyers and a lower price.
Then this helps with the lack of affordable housing, Gets people back into work and also the college students the experience they need for the workplace.
This idea could work if a company set it up. Because we believe that it doesn’t necessarily need the government’s backing or to run it.
